Architecture + Health Educators Summit: Schaeffer Somers represented the Center for Design + Health and the School of Architecture at the annual Architecture + Health Educators Summit held in Chicago as part of the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health/ACHA Summer Leadership Conference. The meeting showcased student work in Health Design Studios taught by Schaeffer and solicited feedback from representatives of established healthcare design programs in attendance.

AIA Academy of Architecture for Health STERIS Student Design Charrette: The University of Virginia School of Architecture has been invited to participate in the 2017 AIA/AAH STERIS Student Design Charrette. The 2017 Charrette will be held during the Healthcare Design Expo and Conference, Orlando, November 10-14. Four students will be selected from the graduate and undergraduate design programs to participate in the weekend design charrette with faculty advisor, Schaeffer Somers. A new WELL Community Standard: Jenny Roe acted as subject matter consultant on the ‘mind’ section of a newly published pilot community WELL standard, a new global new global benchmark for healthy, inclusive, equitable, integrated and resilient communities. More information about the tool here.
